Mark
Antony is the best candidate for Rome. He’s Julius Caesar’s most loyal
supporter. Julius Caesar also trusts Mark Antony and that he’s less of a threat
to him, unlike Cassius who is always thinking. Mark Antony also loves Rome and
the people. After Caesar’s death, Antony speaks to the people of Rome at his
funeral. He tells them who Caesar really was and that all he did was for Rome. Brutus
said he killed Caesar for ambition and that he loved Rome more. In act 3 scene
2 lines 22-23 Brutus says “this is my answer: not that I loved Caesar less, but
that I loved Rome more.” Also in lines 28-29 Brutus says “But, as he was
ambitious, I slew him.” But Mark Antony
disagrees. In act 3 scene 2 lines 94-97 Antony speaks “He was my friend,
faithful and just to me, but Brutus says he was ambitious, and Brutus is an
honorable man.” He keeps on going and says in act 3 scene 2 lines 105-107 “I
thrice presented him a kingly crown, which he did thrice refuse. Was this
ambition?” In act 3 scene 2 lines 116-117 Antony says “My heart is in the
coffin there with Caesar, and I must pause till it come back to me”, then he
cries. This shows how much Antony loved Caesar and how it breaks his heart that
his master was murdered. Antony’s mindset is Rome, Caesar, and being
loyal/fair. While on the other hand Brutus and Cassius are only thinking for
themselves and the power they’ll have once they throw Caesar from power. (All
