Marc Antony
Over the past few days we have been listening to candidates that can possibly replace Caesar; Mark Antony, Brutus, and Cassius. Starting with Antony, I agree with Tony and Brielle that he can be a good leader. In the presentations I was persuaded to think that Antony shows leadership toward the people. Supports from the text were well used in supporting the characteristics that were being said about Antony. The items that were brought were related back to Antony in a smart way like bringing out a scene from the novel with a Caesar box and cupcakes representing Caesar death and the flowers. I didn't really see the connection between the song and Antony but Quan's points did show greatness about Antony.
Brutus
Kassandra did a good job at presenting the characteristics that we would want to have our leader to be as well as provided evidence from the text to support what was being presented, but I believe with all those characteristics he needs to know how to use them. The brochure was very detailed which led me to see other view points. I had trouble relating the cookies to Brutus in a way. I didn't see the connection that would persuade me. I liked the choice of song and how it related back to Brutus, it showed who Brutus himself was.
Cassius
Started off in a bad way for me because even though you may have evidence from the text and a lot of information I wasn't able to hear and the quality didn't have the persuasive effect on me. I liked the idea behind the items that Melanie created. It was a great idea. It reminded me of the older days, actually voting and since it was well made it must have taken hours which is something that should be taken into consideration. I liked how Alberto related the song choice back to Cassius, it showed what he is capable of doing for his people.

I agree with Brielle and Tony about how they said that Marc Antony can be a good leader. I agree that Marc Antony is not a backstabber. He really isn't a follower either, he is a leader. Like they said, I agree that Marc Antony is loyal, truthful, respectful, and honorable. I agree about how they said that Marc Antony is truthful. He doesn't lie he will straight up come to you and say what he thinks. Marc Antony was one of Caesar's friend and he didn't backstabbed him, like Brutus did. I wouldn't say that Brutus is a leader. He doesn't lead people, he follows people. He wouldn't qualify as a leader if all he does is follow other people, have people tell him what to do and let that even slide pass him. What kind of leader has some people tell them what to do? That isn't a leader, that is someone being a slave. In Act 3 Sc. 2 Antony says "I should do Brutus wrong and Cassius wrong, Who you all know, are honorable men. I will not do them wrong. I rather choose to wrong to the dead, to wrong myself and you, than I will wrong such honorable men."(135-139) He is saying that he would do Brutus and Caesar wrong that he will let people know that they are not honorable men.
Cassius is a good leader but not that good as Antony is. Cassius may be a fast thinker and has wisdom but that doesn't qualify as a leader. If you are going to be a leader shouldn't you be loyal too? Like I said Brutus is a follower not no leader. As I say that, Brutus was Cassius follower, not his leader. If you are going to be a leader, you should treat people right! You can't be a leader and then backstab your friend, it doesn't makes sense. Act 3 Sc. 1 (115-117) Brutus- " Grant that, and then is death a benefit. so are we Caesar's friends, that have abridged his time of fearing death." How are you going to stab him to death but say he is your friend? What kind of leader stabs or kill one of there people and still call them your friend? So I do think Antony is a great leader because he has been Caesar's friend all this time, when he got stabbed, everywhere Caesar went, Antony was right by him. He may have followed Caesar's footsteps, but he was only doing that because one day he will be leader and now it happened. Act 3 Sc. 2 "He was my friend, faithful and just to me." And that is a leader. Antony is very respectful, honorable, truthful, and loyalty as a leader should be!
- The two candidates that are not qualified are Brutus and Cassius. Brutus and Cassius are both responsible for the assassination of Julius Caesar. Cassius hates Caesar because Caesar does not like him. In order for Cassius to get away with killing Caesar, he needs Brutus. Cassius makes Brutus believe that killing Caesar is for the good of Rome. Another reason why Cassius needs Brutus is that Caesar loves Brutus. If Brutus becomes leader after Caesar’s death, it won’t look like it’s for personal motives. In act 1 scene 2 lines 165-170 Cassius speaks to Brutus and says “Now it is Rome indeed and room enough when there is in it but only one man. O, you and I have heard our fathers say there was a Brutus once that would have brooked th’ eternal devil to keep his state in Rome as easily as a king.” This is where Cassius manipulates Brutus into his plan. Also in act 1 scene 2 lines 175-179 Brutus says “I would not, so with love I might entreat you, be any further moved. What you have said I will consider; what you have to say I will with patience hear and find a time both meet to hear and answer such high things.” (All of this is shown on this drawing)
Mark
Antony is the best candidate for Rome. He’s Julius Caesar’s most loyal
supporter. Julius Caesar also trusts Mark Antony and that he’s less of a threat
to him, unlike Cassius who is always thinking. Mark Antony also loves Rome and
the people. After Caesar’s death, Antony speaks to the people of Rome at his
funeral. He tells them who Caesar really was and that all he did was for Rome. Brutus
said he killed Caesar for ambition and that he loved Rome more. In act 3 scene
2 lines 22-23 Brutus says “this is my answer: not that I loved Caesar less, but
that I loved Rome more.” Also in lines 28-29 Brutus says “But, as he was
ambitious, I slew him.” But Mark Antony
disagrees. In act 3 scene 2 lines 94-97 Antony speaks “He was my friend,
faithful and just to me, but Brutus says he was ambitious, and Brutus is an
honorable man.” He keeps on going and says in act 3 scene 2 lines 105-107 “I
thrice presented him a kingly crown, which he did thrice refuse. Was this
ambition?” In act 3 scene 2 lines 116-117 Antony says “My heart is in the
coffin there with Caesar, and I must pause till it come back to me”, then he
cries. This shows how much Antony loved Caesar and how it breaks his heart that
his master was murdered. Antony’s mindset is Rome, Caesar, and being
loyal/fair. While on the other hand Brutus and Cassius are only thinking for
themselves and the power they’ll have once they throw Caesar from power. (All

(All of this is shown on this drawing) This
drawing shows Brutus and Cassius and Julius Caesar. Cassius is manipulating
Brutus into his plan. To kill Caesar for the good of Rome and Brutus become the
future leader. That’s why Julius Caesar has a target drawn on his back. (Backstabbers)
